Hi,
My 1st guess is that you have not calibrated your monitor and that you
are assuming that it is displaying square pixels.
My Sony CRT monitor has a menu button that allows me to adjust the size
of the image both vertically and horizontally. These sizes may vary if
the power supply varies.
One way to quickly check this is create a new square image in ImageJ
using the File->New->Image... menu command. Set the image size to be a
little less than your display's vertical resolution, then measure it. If
its not square, adjust your monitor via its hardware buttons and your
operating system's display resolution control. (In Windows, right click
on the background, select Properties, then select the Settings tab.)
See the ImageJ documentation for the "Set Scale..." command at
http://rsb.info.nih.gov/ij/docs/menus/analyze.html
on how to calibrate ImageJ to display dimensions in something other
than pixels, including when vertical and horizontal scales are not equal.

Subject: Length
Hi
Using the measuring tool, I get different measurements for horizontal
and vertical lines of the same length (on the monitor). What is the
reason for this and how to fix this? Thanks
