new user with very basic problem

I am new to ImageJ and have no experience with Java.  I also am in the
process of becoming familiar with Mac OS X.  On my old Windows machine I
can successfully run ImageJ with downloaded plugins (e.g., Stackreg).
However, on the iMac ImageJ doesn't seem to recognize the presence of
downloaded plugins, and I have been unable to figure out why.  Can someone
suggest a solution to this problem?
