I use ImageJ on Mac OS X. I'll list some of the things to check.
There should be an ImageJ folder in Applications. The check this,
open a Finder window and navigate to Applications.
Inside the ImageJ folder you should find (among other things) an
application called ImageJ (probably the microscope icon), a file
called ij.jar and a folder called plugins. I assume you are only
having problems with the plugins, so the application and the jar file
are probably correct.
If you don't have a plugins folder, something went wrong with your
installation. You could create it yourself if you really don't have
one or can't find one you downloaded.
Inside the plugins folder (if you had one) you should find plugins
(.java and .class files) or more folders containing plugins. ImageJ
looks here for plugins.
If there are only .java files in the plugins folder, you need to
compile them. It's an option on the Plugins menu called 'Compile and
Run...'.
I didn't cover what to do if you don't have an ImageJ folder in
Applications: move the ImageJ application you downloaded into
Applications.
The above are all the simple things to do. If they don't work, we'll
continue on to the harder stuff.
