Try: Edit>Selection>Restore Selection

Or in a macro:

run("Restore Selection");

For example:

selectWindow("AuPbSn40.jpg");
makeLine(278, 70, 402, 247);
run("Plot Profile");
selectWindow("AuPbSn40-1.jpg");
run("Restore Selection");
run("Plot Profile");
