Large area error

Hello all,

I have been performing some measurements on v. large images (~600mb tiffs) using ImageJ  on a Unix platform.
Using the measure command, I sometimes get Integrated Densities and Mean Gray values that are negative numbers.
The largest integrated value I seem to be able to obtain before it gets hokey is roughly 3.5 million.
Anyone have any thoughts?
