Viewing RGB stacks: Can you toggle channel visibility

Hi,
   Is there any way of independently toggling the visibility of the  
red, green and blue channels of an RGB image stack.

   A related issue is how to change the brightness/contrast/gamma of  
individual channels without actually modifying the underlying pixel  
values (i.e. I sort of want to have LUT control of channels on top of  
a non-LUT image).

Apologies if this has been dealt with before - I could find nothing  
in the archives.
