Analyzing Images HELP

Hi,
I am very new to this program and would appreciate any advice in  
analyzing qCT images.
I am using the tool that allows me to circumscribe a portion of the  
image, but would like to know if there is a command/plugin that will  
allow ImageJ to give me the dimension (in pixels) of the maximum  
width and height of the outlined portion.
When I obtain measurements from Analyze>Measure a small window pops  
up with values for Mean, Maximum, Minimum and Area.  I am not exactly  
sure what the first three measurements refer to, so any explanation  
would be helpful as well.
