Windows behavior of version 1.35j

I just upgraded to version 1.35j and when I go to open an image the open
file list window (Ctrl+O) appears to be corrupted and has no readable
content in it.  If I open an image using the File > Open Samples list, I
get a window which contains unrecognizable image content.  However, if i
zoom in or out, the content becomes recognizable.  

Has anyone else had this problem, and is there a solution?
