ImageJ on AMD64

I am new to ImageJ and wondering about running/installation on AMD64
architecture.  Does anyone have experience with this?  Are there 32/64
bit issues with the main program and/or plugins, or other concerns that
I should know about?

Any tips or guidance would be helpful. (I am running 2.6.12 Gentoo
Linux)
