Hi Kustaa,

it's the same on OS X 10.6.8 with a recent daily build of ImageJ, files are grayed out.

Nevertheless, does it hurt? You can select the directory, and I think that's all you need:
File>Import>Image Sequence opens all files that match the criteria given in the next dialog.

So I see no reason why you should be able to select a file, but maybe I have overlooked something.
