Sarah,
I have no idea what 64 bit RGB images could mean. Are these images with
four channels, e.g. RGB with an alpha channel, each channel of 16 bit?
As far as I remember, the usual 48 bit RGB images can be imported to
ImageJ as stack.
More information on the image structure may help to diagnose the problem.
