Hello Thuraya, I hope this help you:
          first I would set the scale of the image (Analyze; Set
Scale). Then do your steps and measure your selection. The value of
%Area represent the percent of the area occupated by pixels with 255.
If you multiply the value of the Area (total selection area) by %Area
(which is the percent of that area with a value of 255) divide by 100
you get the area of the signal.
