Introduction and particle analisis

Hello everyone;
This is my
first e mail. My name is Vanina, I´m from Argentina and I am trying to use
ImageJ to analyze if the spotted patterns in animals are suitable for
individual identification.
While analyzing
(I turn the photo into binary and use particle analysis) i realized that some
of the particles are actually dirt on the animals. Is there any way I can
exclude such particles from the analysis?
Any other comments
or suggestions will be very welcome; it is my first time using the program
