Difficulty segmenting overlapping cells

I am currently analyzing the nuclear size and total cell size of healthy cervical squamos cells.
Most of the images i am looking at are relatively straight forward to segment, however i have real difficulty in segmenting cells that overlap.

Im fairly new to imagej, and ive tried a few thing, but the only effective method i have found is by using the freehand selection tool.

Could someone please point me in a better direction than the current method im using?
