SIFT stack alignment

Dear all,
 
today I got the impression that the SIFT stack alignment is quirky: Starting from a stack of 24 similar images I applied SIFT alignment and ended up with images shifted or enlarged, beginning from image #16, for both rigid (shifted) and similarity (enlarged) transforms.
 
I am using Fiji 1.48e, 64 bit, Win 7, and can supply an 800k avi, if necessary.
 
Any comments?
