Subtracting one image from another

Goodday everyone,

I would like to ask for your help with my project for physics. The idea is that I calculate the thickness of soap bubbles by colour matching. In order to do this, I have to substract an image without a bubble from an image with a bubble. The experiment perscription I found on the internet, said that I should use ImageJ, which was completely foreign to me,to do this. I have tried to look at other posts describing what to do, however I could not make sense of them. So if anyone could explain in really simple terms how to solve this problem, that would really be great.
