ROI mean grey value, excluding particles

Hello,

I have a stack of ultrasound images with one distinct ROI in each image (saved in the ROI manager). These ROIs contain white particles, which I can easily threshold and analyse using "analyse particles". I could also measure the MGV of each ROIs via the ROI manager.

Now, I would like to measure the MGV of the same ROIs, excluding those particles... I have tried using an addtional (thresholded) stack and the "redirect" function in the "set measurements" window but I did not succeed. I guess I would need a macro for it but I can't figure out the necessary steps.

Can someone help?
