Can I invert Grey Units?

My image has significantly more relevant data the darker the grey tone. When i use imagej and analyze my data using "Measure" it attributes the whitest color as the highest grey unit of 255 and black is 0 grey units. I guess my question is can I change the grey scale settings (or calibrate) so that as the higher grey units increase it darkens closer to black (attributing the blackest a value of 255)?
