How to convert images to an average colour

Hi All,

I was wondering iof anybody can help me.

I am have a image sequence of 3000 images. I would like to convert every image into it's average colour.
Is this possible please. I will then use Montage to montage them. I know how to do second part.

It is converting the image to a average colour that I do not know how to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
