Thresholding, differences between Default mode and IsoData

Hi,

I have read (http://fiji.sc/Auto_Threshold#Default) that the Default mode
for thresholding is a variation of IsoData. Looking at the code I can see
that but what is the motivation for that variation? Could you describe the
variation?
