when a tif is double clicked, Fiji opens but not the image.

Interestingly, I tried my windows 8 instructions by creating an
embryos.tif from the Fiji sample in Fiji on Windows 8 and the
instructions worked fine with this test. Garbage in - garbage out :)
After Curtis's post, I tried a .tif saved from GIMP and had same problem
as OP.
It seems that Fiji can still read it's own newly saved .tifs, [and
encouragingly] the GIMP can ALSO read Fiji's newly saved .tif. Fiji
just behaves badly way with "some" (probably standard) .tifs, like those
saved by the GIMP.
This begs the question, are Fiji-saved .tifs reliable input for most
other programs pending the fix?
