Right. It should not be necessary to understand anything about Maven if
what you want to do is to import existing project(s) into Eclipse. Just
follow the instructions Mark linked.

That said, in response to your questions, we are making some edits to the
ImageJ Development pages to hopefully make things clearer and easier to
understand for newcomers. We will reply back again once those edits are in
place.
