Hi Bin,

If you use the Segmented Line mode (right-click on the line tool to select), you can use a single click to start and a double-click to end the line — no dragging required.

If you haven’t already done so, you could search the archives of this list or imagej.net<http://imagej.net> to see if someone else has written a macro or tool to add the function you need. For example, Wayne Rasband wrote a macro to draw freehand lines of a specific length<http://imagej.1557.x6.nabble.com/how-to-stop-the-freehand-lines-tool-at-a-set-distance-20-um-td3690197.html>.
