If you are mainly interested in standard image processing and astronomical applications, try a spin-off of ImageJ, called “SalsaJ”, available at
http://www.euhou.net/index.php/salsaj-software-mainmenu-9?task=view&id=7which is available in French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Greek, Portuguese, Swedish, Northern Sami, Arabic, and Chinese versions.
