bioformat autoscale is greyed out

I am trying to import .zgi files from a Zeiss microscope. The files come in and present as black boxes. I can manually adjust each color in the 4 color images with ImageJ brightness panel.  Autoscale on the Bioformat import window is greyed out. Any thought or suggestions for a fix?
 imageJ build 1.51g  Java 1.8 on Mac running OX X El Capitan  10.11.6 2.2gHz Intel Core i7
