No it isn't windows 10 with 'creator update' , it is Windows 8.1 Enterprise maintained by IT department.

But, Yes, that prevents the situation, because the dialog that opens a file now does not offer any  possibility of selecting 'delete'  and the delete key does not do anything.

This is preferable since it is effectively 'by mistake' that the option was selected , when another file-explorer window was  open and getting muddled up. A total freeze punishment was a bit harsh :-) :-)

Are you using Windows 10 with the Creators Update? If you are, try enabling "Use JFileChooser to open/save" in Edit>Options>Input/Output".
