How to upgrade to latests when Help->Update Imagej... does not work?

How am I supposed to update ImageJ to the latest version when the Help->Update
Imagej... does not work?

Using ImageJ 1.50h installed from RPM on Fedora 24, the response from
Help->Update Imagej...
is:
The "News" page on the Imagej website is not in the correct format or it was
not found.

From https://imagej.nih.gov/ij/index.html I click on 'news', which I assume is
the aforementioned "News" web page. Click on upgrade and get
https://imagej.nih.gov/ij/upgrade/.  I click on
wsr.imagej.net/download/daily-build and receive a ij.jar file in response.  My
imagej jar file is '/usr/share/java/imagej.jar'.

Do I just save the ij.jar as /usr/share/java/imagej.jar and restart imagej?

Note: I remember getting the same error message on MacOS High Sierra.
