Yes, there are alternatives from OpenJDK, Azul/Zulu, AdoptOpenJDK, and others for free:
Hello all,
as of Jan. 2019 JRE is no longer free of charge, one needs to pay for the
updates as subscription. We have many computers (also for students) which
have fiji/imageJ and Java on it. Is there an alternative for Oracles JRE to
keep imageJ running without paying for Java?
Thanks,
Mathias
