Hi Aryeh,

It seems like a bug in the "Cache Sample Images" command under File > Open
Samples. I could reproduce the behavior you describe by first running Cache
Sample Images, and then trying to open a sample image. The issue can be
avoided by deleting your Fiji.app/samples directory—then the sample images
will load from their remote URLs again.

As for the Bio-Formats update site: it is for Bio-Formats daily builds. The
base Fiji distribution ships with Bio-Formats (latest release version)
installed. So unticking that site won't necessarily remove any files. It
may downgrade versions of Bio-Formats JAR files from snapshot to release
versions, depending on whether there is any new build since the last
release.

Regards,
Curtis
