3D - Viewer?

I am having a problem with the 3D viewer plugin.  When I bring it up, it
seems to take a long while to load.  In the past, it has finally loaded
within a minute.  Once loaded, I can view many stacks in succession, but
the initialization is slow.  I believe that this is because it
automatically checks for updates.  On some computers, this process is
relatively quick, but on my laptop it is slow.

In any case, today, when I tried, the delay was so long that the entire
program crashed.  I went to the website neurofly.de, and received a timeout
error.  Is there something wrong with the site, and/or is there a way that
I can prevent the plugin from calling home (if that's what it is doing)?
