tracking tubular structures

Bickle Marc
Hi,

I would like to track mitochondria in live cells. They often form
tubular structures that may or may not be attached to the main body of
the mitochondria mesh. The idea would be to segment the tubes and
determine points every 5-10 pixels along the axis and track the
points. Points may disappear over time as the mitochondrion shrinks,
fuses or splits, but this is less crucial, as these events are rare
and the movies will be short (it's a screen of several thousand
compounds and siRNAs). Does anyone know of an implementation of such a
tracking algorithm with imageJ?
Thanks,
Marc
