3D object counter takes too long

Xiaoxiong Xing
Dear ImageJ users,

I am using 3D objects counter to count connected objects in an image stack
which contains 738 738*738 images. I only ticked Nb of Obj. voxels in 3D OC
options. However, this plug-in took about half an hour before it can give
the result. Is this normal?

I also tried the *connected component* Avizo and it only takes several
seconds to find the connected  component.

Sincerely,
Xiaoxiong

Dear Xiaoxiong,

Try the Particle Analyser in BoneJ:

http://bonej.org/particles

It should go quite a bit faster than the naïve implementation in 3D OC (but I'm not sure about 'several seconds': depends on your particles).
