Hi,
This is my second attempt at this problem.
The answer earlier today regarding the Spot 3rd Party software was useful,
but we already use this software and are pretty familiar with its behavior,
and imagine we are configuring it correctly.
In OSX (10.4.xx), what determines the status of an application (ImageJ)
with respect to whether on not the application (ImageJ) appears in the list
of preferred applications or is relegated to the status of OTHER?
Maybe this is because ImageJ is Java application.
I have been trying for some time to understand just what happens and why. I
now am admitting defeat.
The behavior seems to vary with the machine (so I guess it's my fault).
In particular it is possible to select an image icon, select get info, and
select the button (from the drop down menu which is headed with Open with...
(select your application from the list) and choose ImageJ as the desired
application. ImageJ usually appears at the bottom of the list in with
"OTHER"
There is also a button here which says change all... And when this is
selected one would expect all documents (tiff images for example), would
then be set up to be opened in ImageJ.
And on some Macs it works, and on others this results in the document being
set back into its original state. So I am puzzled by this.
It is possible to do it to one at a time, but if you decide to get greedy...
This must have something to do with permissions and authorities etc.
I am about to try Leopard, but would like to sort this out first.
Regards
Noel
