Hi,
I need to measure the surface area of a part of chick and mouse embryo hearts,
namely, the right ventricular outflow tract that includes the pulmonary valve
and the heart muscle proximal to it. My plan was to photograph this area with
the available dissection microscope and camera and then use ImageJ to draw this
area and measure it. The hearts are quite small - three mm long and two mm wide.
A window of ventral heart wall is dissected to expose the luminal surface of
that I am interested in.
I have following two problems that I need advise on please:
1. The surface to be photographed is curved so getting the surface in focus is
one problem.
2. In the photographs, because the color contrast is poor, defining the valve
area and the muscle is also a problem.
Has any one attempted Anything like this? I would appreciate any advise to get
this correctly done.
Thanks.
