Hi All,
I was wondering if there is a way to work on some imageJ code with another editor than the text window? I have seen and installed the IJ editor, but it seems not to have the functionalities I was searching for, i.e., execute a line or bloc of code for example. Maybe I missed something. Thanks for any information. Emmanuel |

There is Fiji's Script Editor: http://pacific.mpi-cbg.de/Script_Editor It offers running just the selection (and much more). Technically, it is possible to run the editor in plain ImageJ, but you'd have to install a lot of .jar files. Ciao, Johannes |

Hi
To execute code one line at a time, one probably needs to use a debugger. IMHO the best way to do this is to download Eclipse for Java developers<http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/eclipse-ide-java-developers/heliossr2> and follow one of the Image-J/Eclipse tutorials on the Wiki (perhaps try this one<http://imagejdocu.tudor.lu/doku.php?id=howto:plugins:the_imagej_eclipse_howto>). If you've not used an IDE like Eclipse before, the help feature has some good tutorials. Neil Neil Thomson, Nuclear Medicine Physics Section, Medical Physics, Kent and Canterbury Hospital, UK. Emmanuel,
I have recently used the tutorial quoted by Neil to explore ImageJ plugins in Eclipse, and agree this works very well, especially because of the detailed help Eclipse gives on what is happening in your code. However, the script editor in Fiji which Johannes Schindelin mentions also looks very helpful. regards Alistair MacDougall -----Original Message----- From: ImageJ Interest Group [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Thomson Neil (EAST KENT HOSPITALS UNIVERSITY NHS FOUNDATION TRUST) Sent: 18 May 2011 09:42 To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: An editor where one can execute blocs of code? Hello,
I have started with the Fiji editor which is quite good actually, and if I become more serious I'll use Eclipse. This is very helpful, thanks a lot to all of you for your suggestions.
