I have a 14-year old imaging system with analog video cameras that still work fine. I'm using the
Scion CG-7 framegrabber with the Mac running OS9. I simply need to replace this computer. However, these cameras are still working just fine, and I can't seem to find a framegrabber that will work in the newer Mac Pro. Someone suggested to me that I simply purchase an analog-firewire converter, and use that firewire input to a new Mac. Will ImageJ be capable of capturing images from such input? Thanks for any advice! |
Dear Kristen,
We use Canopus ADVC300 to capture to FinalCut. Not sure how it would work with ImageJ. http://desktop.grassvalley.com/products/ADVC300/index.php Tim On 6/30/09 11:57 AM, "Kristen Keefe" <[hidden email]> wrote: > I have a 14-year old imaging system with analog video cameras that still work > fine. We purchased a DV-2001 http://www.tvone.com/dv-2001.shtml for exactly that purpose. We were running a perfectly good but old Optronics camera with an ISA card, when the Win98 computer died. The converter works very simply and well with ImageJ on our Mac OSX.

Hi Kathy,
does your grabber use QuickTime for capturing or something else? The problem with QuickTime is that it does not work on the newer Macs that use 64-bit Java, see the previous thread https://list.nih.gov/cgi-bin/wa? A2=ind0906&L=IMAGEJ&D=0&I=3&m=23442&P=12717 But maybe this information is outdated, and Apple is going to continue QT support on the newer Java versions?
