Thanks for your suggestion, Bob. I took a look at the Thickness plugin, but not sure it will get me quite the answer I want. Unfortunately the pores are a complex shape and a sphere will not fit well. It also gives thickness rather than cross sectional area. I wondered if it was possible to take the skeleton (or medial axis) created by the Analyze Skeleton plug in and use it to determine the pore direction and therefore determine the angle that the cross section should be measured at?
