I don't think I'm really understanding your problem....
Couldn't you just use the following formula:
Sum_Of_Particles_Area/Select_All_Area?

So I've done some searching around and it seems like there has been a couple people with the same question that I am having, but I haven't found an answer that is working for me. I have a SEM sample that I am trying to measure dispersion on. I have made binary and found the area of all the particles and everything looks great on that. What I am trying to do now is find the percent of the sample that is taken up by these particles. I have tried thresholding the image and then using area fraction measurement tool, but I get very high percentages that are obviously not correct. I tried to make binary to make the images more clear than thresholding and still am not being able to get results that I am looking for.
If there are any other techniques that people have found or that may help me out I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Zach
