Capturing a line laser scan

Henry Barwood
I would like to use a 405nm line laser to scan thin sections of rock for fluorescent sodalite. I planned on using a HD video camera to capture the image as the laser line is scanned across the section. Is it possible to convert the video to a stack and then collapse the stack to produce a single 2D image of the scanned thin section? A focused spot causes the sodalite to fluoresce intensely, but I need to record the distribution of sodalite in the entire thin section. Any suggestions are welcome.
