Counting people and vehicles

Daniel Hudson
Hi folks,

I wanted to get a good estimate of the count of people and vehicles that
go through an intersection for a given time period. If I set up a camera
to capture either video (30 fps) or say 1 frame per second, would it be
possible for software to count both the number of people and number of
cars in an image?

We're not doing this exact thing, but we are also trying to count objects
that pass in front of a camera. Whether you capture individual objects, of
course, depends not just the frame rate but on how fast the object is moving
and how big your field of view is. So, how big an area is the camera looking
at, and how fast are the fastest cars moving?

If anyone else has developed ImageJ code to count moving objects, I'd love
to talk...

John
