ImageJ does not recognize the DIB extension ("device independent bitmap"),
which are nothing other than BMP formatted files. While it would seem an
easy task to simply rename them, our instrument software can produce
hundreds of DIB files. Apps, like Irfanview, can be used to batch rename
the files, but I wanted to suggest it would seem an easy task to add the DIB
extension to the ImageJ=>File=>Open dialog(?)
