DICOM images open very slowly.

I have noticed that some DICOM images (2D projection images) open very
slowly, taking perhaps 10 seconds for a 2k x 3k image to open. Others
open quickly, in a second or so, similar to the time it takes comparable
TIFF images to open. If the slow-opening DICOM images are re-saved as
TIFF images they open quickly.

Have others experienced this behavior? Is the cause known?

Perhaps the slow ones are compressed. Are the file sizes smaller than the
fast-opening ones of same dimensions?

This bug is fixed in the ImageJ 1.47n daily build. The method used by the DICOM decoder for reading LUT data was very inefficient.
