FigureJ problems

ajgeffen
I have tried to use the FigureJ plugin, I have copied the jar files following the instructions, and FigureJ appears as a shortcut in the plugin list,
but I cannot get any further than this message when try to run the plugin: "Plugin or class not found: "FigureJ_Tool" (java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: ij/plugin/tool/PluginTool)" This is running 1.45i. However, when I use the plugin in Fiji, I can install it and run it fine. Where do I find the FigureJ_Tool?

Hi,
This error is probably due to the fact that you are using an ImageJ version
less than 1.46d. The missing PluginTool class was added with 1.46d11. You
should upgrade to the latest ImageJ version using Help > Update ImageJ.
Let me know if this fixes the problem.
Sincerley,
Jerome.

The problem is indeed an outdated dependency, as Jerome indicated. Since
such problems are so common, we worked very hard in the Fiji project to
provide a solution: the updater. It proved so useful (as you realized,
because FigureJ runs in Fiji), that the updater migrated to ImageJ2 so
that all ImageJ users can benefit from it in the future.

Johannes

You could avoid such user problems in the future by providing your own
update site (as discussed at the ImageJ conference).

No, it means that the easiest way to keep FigureJ up-to-date would be for
Jerome to set up an update site and for users to add that update site and
install FigureJ. That way, Jerome just would need to upload new versions
as he makes them and users would not need to hunt around and look for new
versions every once in a while.

You can, however, make sure yourself that your ij.jar is up-to-date and
that you have the newest FigureJ_.jar. It is just more tedious for the
users, that is all.
