Help with image overlap

Please, I'would need a help from anybody to solve an easy problem.
I have to overlap two images, that are the same thing but saved in different times. I would need to overlap but the first plan, for sure, has to be more transparent, so I can easily see the second plan. It is possible? And how can I do?
The pictures are 8-bit colors.

Thank you for attention.

Hi Niccolo,

you can use Image>Overlay>Add Image, and select an opacity value < 100% for the overlay.

Usually, my favorite method is a different one, however:
Image>Color>Merge Channels. Then I can have, e.g., one image in red and the other in blue and green (cyan).
