How important is first impressions when building a social media presence?

When people discover a new profile, they often decide within seconds whether to follow or move on. How much do profile appearance, activity levels, and social proof influence that decision? Are these factors really important, or does good content eventually outweigh everything else in the long run?

I think first impressions matter more than many people admit. Visitors usually look at a profile’s overall activity, recent posts, and engagement before deciding whether to follow. Good content remains the foundation, but presentation can help people take that first step.
