How to get the grey value of the color colored lines.

Hello all,

please do anyone here have an idea of how to go about quantifying the grey value of the stained lines of a lateral flow paper strip? Am using gold nanoparticles and polyclonal antibodies to form the lines to detect mycotoxins in food samples. please any have an idea help me with this, been struggling with this project for the last 6 months. i have attached the image here..

Hi,

This looks very much like a gel analysis. Have you looked at the Gel Analysis tool in ImageJ (https://imagejdocu.tudor.lu/gui/analyze/gels). There are also numerous tutorials online describing gel analysis in ImageJ, e.g. https://lukemiller.org/index.php/2010/11/analyzing-gels-and-western-blots-with-image-j/

There are a few ways to do this.

One way pictured here:  http://microscopynotes.com/temp/line_profile_plot.png

I separated the channels because perhaps you need values of specific colors, not just grayscale?
