How to read the imageJ ROI as a mask into matlab?

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to read the ImageJ ROI (.roi file) into matlab, the important thing is that I want the mask itself instead of the coordinates.  I know below webpage gives a way of reading imageJ ROI, but it is not what I wanted: it for example just provides a rectangle box for an ellipse ROI .  Does anyone know how to read the imagej ROI to a mask (binary file)?  Thanks!
