Hello.
I am new to ImageJ and need some tips. I just take different digital photos, ImageJ look a bit difficult...or with a bit stiff learinng curve..and a bit scientific :) I have read the intro and basic concepts, but still a bit confused... I am among those who want to use something else than rest of the crowd, using high cost software etc. I am not an expert in digital photo, but learning... Anybody have tips on what menys to use here.To do ordinary editing in digital photo. And also how to use with raw files...Is it supporting most raw files. I use Konica Minolta A2 and Pentax K 20 D And I use Mac Powerbook...Do I have to do some plug ins or...? What workflow can you suggest? Or are there any tutorials about this? Thankfull for info. ImageJ is not as much a application for digital photography as it is a
scientific application dealing in the medium of images. I would recommend looking into GIMP(http://www.gimp.org/macintosh/) If you are looking into a opensource application, and Graphic converter (http://www.lemkesoft.com/ ) if shareware is acceptable. There is also a bunch of other apps avilable for macintosh depending on what you want to accomplish and the hardware your using. // Tomas 1 okt 2009 kl. 21.44 skrev Ronald Patrick Steffensen/Odyssey Norge: > Hello. > > I am new to ImageJ and need some tips. > I just take different digital photos, ImageJ look a bit > difficult...or with > a bit stiff learinng curve..and a bit scientific :) > I have read the intro and basic concepts, but still a bit confused... > I am among those who want to use something else than rest of the > crowd, using > high cost software etc. > I am not an expert in digital photo, but learning... > Anybody have tips on what menys to use here.To do ordinary editing in > digital photo. > And also how to use with raw files...Is it supporting most raw > files. ImageJ is a great tool, but not so great for your purpose.
Its primary use is to analyze data that can be represented in pictorial form. Often times the data is a picture from a camera, sometimes a even a video camera. I use it to create 3D maps of sound fields in liquids where the data is collected from a hydro-phone and stored in a tiff file. Other things too, but always as a data analysis tool. For your purposes you could do worse than "gimp". There is a fork of "gimp" called "cinepaint" that is also very powerful. Both come with a steep leaning curve and assume you know a good bit about digital photography. Have fun.
