Image capture in Yoshsemite falls

Paulo Acioly
Hi  Guys,

I followed thee instructions indicated to use the sequence

File  - Import - video

in a  macbook pro mid 2012 under mac os x Yosemite.

I downloaded the appropriated plug-in for ImageJ and follow the instructions to put Quick time capabilities in Yosemite …

But the corresponding image window suddenly  crashs …

I am using the same firmware  camera,  a Sony   XCD SX 910  that works fine in older versions of mac  OS X ...

Thank you very much for any comment or suggestion !!!!

Paulo

OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) and 10.11 (El Capitan‎) do not include the libraries required to run commands like File>Import>Video and File>Import>Using QuickTime that use QuickTime for Java. You can work around this problem by copying the files QTJava.zip and libQTJNative.jnilib, available at http://imagej.nih.gov/ij/download/qt/ into ~/Library/Java/Extensions, where "~" is your home directory. OS X hides the Library folder by default, so you will need to open your home folder and check "Show Library Folder" in the View>Show View Options dialog. Before copying the files, you will need to create the ~/Library/Java and ~/Library/Java/Extensions folders.

To Wayne Rasband: NIH ImageJ question regarding SKEW

Hi Wayne:

I am an emeritus professor at URI who uses NIH Image J to measure cardiac
and skeletal muscle mitochondria.  I neglected to add the SKEW measurement
of mitochondrial area and Feret in my assessment of over 10,000 myocardial
mitochondria in a drug treated and exercise intervention study so I
measured SKEW from the "Results .xls data.  Our statistician found that
exercise and PPARy had not treatment effects.  He stated the following:
However, I’m not sure that it is equivalent to how the NIH software is
calculating the third order spatial moment mean in regards to pixels for
individual mitochondria rather than the skewness of a distribution of many
mitochondria in a given micrograph. If you believe the distributional
skewness from excel is correct then the results are below however, if not,
then you’ll need to use the NIH software to calculate it to be sure we are
aligned with what Pickard has done.

I agree with him that we need an answer to this question.  Also, can I
recapture the ImageJ files prior to the .xls files and put SKEW into the
menu?

Thank you Wayne. Your software is indeed an excellent tool in our research.
Regards,
Tom

The 'Skewness' in the particle analyzer is the skewness of the distribution of
greyscale values of each region analysed, not the skewness of mean grey
distribution in the population of regions.

Dear Wayne,

I follow your recommendation and , again the ImageJ falls into capture images from my camera. I am including  a snapshot image  of the error window thee appears  to help understand what is happening…

Thank you very much for your help…

Re: Image capture in Yoshsemite falls

Herbie
Paulo,

interesting screen shot dated 22. Oct. 2015.

It appears as if you used quicktime.
Could you please be more specific?

Best

Herbie

Re: Image capture in Yoshsemite falls

Herbie
Paulo,

because the issue may be interesting for the list I shall continue
posting our conversation.

"I downloaded the appropriated plug-in [...]"

Which one, and who has written it?
Perhaps the author may help further.

In any case, please update erverything, from ImageJ, the OlugIn, QT to Java.

Good luck

Herbie
