Yep,
I assume if there is any problem with ImageJ on Windows 7 it is a general Java problem - OR? What did you try? Some quick googling turns out that from JRE 6.14 on, there should be no more problems, alternatively, it seems, one needs a "registered" copy of MSVCR71.dll in the system or Java folder via regsvr32 C:\Windows\MSVCR71.dll Leica Microsystems CMS GmbH | GmbH mit Sitz in Wetzlar | Amtsgericht Wetzlar HRB 2432 Geschäftsführer: Dr. Stefan Traeger | Dr. Wolf-Otto Reuter | Dr. David Roy Martyr | Colin Davis www.leica-microsystems.com Johannes Schindelin <Johannes.Schinde An [hidden email]> [hidden email] Gesendet von: Kopie ImageJ Interest Group Thema <[hidden email]. I've been using 7 on my Lenovo X61 for about a month and installed
Image J last week just to test it out. It seems to run fine but I get a notification that 'a running program in incompatible with some of the visual effects of Windows 7'. But I'm 99% sure that it's just telling me that the normally translucent window borders in the OS will not be that way with Image J. It runs fine with no problems other than that little notice. Very quick compared to my imaging rig attached to the scope! One of ImageJ's great appeals is that it is very portable and easy to
install. This as aopposed to something like OpenCv which fights you every step of the way. So, it's important to know know why it might have problems with Vista and/or provide instructions with download on what to do if its different than for XP. David Webster |
You may want to check with the most up to date version. I installed
the WCIF package that I had saved in my backup drive. It installed without issue just as it does in XP. In 7, and possibly Vista, the Aero window appearance is one with translucent borders. It's really kind of a nice feature to sometimes just have a glimpse of the window open behind. It also gives a small screenshot when you scroll over an application running but minimized to the taskbar. I can check this function when I get back home to the laptop. My only test for it was to open a JPEG, do some blurring, selection, drawing and simple measurement of a selection. All that worked ok. bgk On Tue, Oct 13, 2009 at 11:15 AM, David William Webster <[hidden email]> wrote: > One of ImageJ's great appeals is that it is very portable and easy to > install. I have ImageJ installed on Win7 (64-bit), all features (including the "new"
Win7 features) run perfectly ok, so far. What is the exact problem? Or is there any? Was it just a question out of precaution? Dear All
Thanks for your help: I still was not successful getting ImageJ to work on Windows7. I updated my Java, still no success. This is the message I get when I try to start ImageJ under the newest version in Windows 7: *Fatal error: Could not launch ImageJ as configured. Please check settings and try again.* Where can I find the "new" Win7 features that Johannes P Koch suggested? Any help is appreciated. How On Wed, Oct 14, 2009 at 8:50 AM, Johannes-P. I am running imageJ on the 64-bit version of windows 7 just
fine. I recall on Vista I had a hard time getting it to run, and the problem was with file/folder permissions. The solution I found was to move the imageJ directory out of the Program Files directory, and to make sure all files/ folders were accessible to all users. Then imageJ ran just fine. Oddly, after I did that, I was able to move the imageJ folder back into the Program Files directory and it has been running fine since, even in Windows 7.
